Contact us if you need help. Whether you have a complicated case or just need a few quick answers, we are here for you.

Real Estate

We have extensive experience with residential and commercial conveyancing, subdivision, strata development and other real property interests and issues.

Litigation

Whether in business or in your personal life, disputes will arise. While court is best used as a last resort, what if you're at that stage, or what if you get sued?

Business Services

We provide an extremely broad range of corporate and commercial law advice and services, including tax-planning and structuring.

Wills | Estates | Trusts

We prepare wills and trust deeds and advise on all types of estate and succession-planning options. We also obtain probate and administration grants in court and do post mortem tax-planning for more complex estates.

Family Law

Our philosophy has always been that it is better to settle family disputes amicably than to exacerbate them in court, but the choice is not always yours and we can help you regardless.

About the Firm

In 1951 Laurence W. Perry moved to Smithers, British Columbia, to start a law practice and a family. He had served in the Merchant Marines during WW II and obtained a law degree after the War ended. He was a third generation lawyer: his father Reginald R. Perry, had practised in Armstrong and Salmon Arm, British Columbia, and his grandfather, William C. Perry, had practised in Mt. Forest, Ontario. Laurence continued practising at 1081 Main Street until 1994, although he had transferred ownership of the firm to his son, John L. Perry, in 1979. He passed away in 2010. Various other Perrys have been involved with the firm over the years, including Barb Perry, a great-granddaughter of William C. Perry, who was office administrator and bookkeeper for over 30 years until her retirement in 2011, and Dale E. Perry, a nephew to Laurence and cousin to John, who has been a partner since 1994. More recently we have reached outside the family for expertise, with Sean E. Rowell, who has been one of our lawyers since 2006, becoming a partner in 2011. Brooke Haberstock joined us in 2019 after articling in the Lower Mainland.
